As anyone who has an iPhone knows the auto correct can sometimes be helpful and other times be so steeped in its own interpretations of what you want to say that it can drive you mad and at times humiliate you.
Have you ever typed in a word over and over only to have the phone keep correcting you? “No Phone I mean grief not greed.”
Lately whenever I attempt to type “Love You” my oh-so-smart phone corrects it to “Live You.”
I keep deleting the “I” and replacing it with the “O” and it puts up a mighty battle.
LIVE YOU, it wants me to say.
It wants me tell people to Live and not Love. That cannot be. Love is important. Love is the elixir of life.
What is the phone saying?
So one day I stopped and thought about it. Live, you!
I added the punctuation. But it really makes sense. Are we really always living? Of course if we are breathing and our hearts are beating we are alive. But are we living? Living each moment. Not rushing through one task, one thought, one event in anticipation of the next. But are we really living? Taking time to enjoy all that comes our way and if not enjoy it then understand what it’s there to teach us. Do we steep ourselves in the moment and really live in it?
Do we want to change? Are we strong enough, brave enough, honest enough to own that things might be out of whack and it’s our job to fix them? Do we accept the fact that we, and only we have control over our lives? Do we take that control and declare what is working and what is not? Do we then stare ourselves down and vow that
SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE IT’S PROBABLY ME
Do we have some faith in something? Can we shut off the static, listen to the still small voice within and trust that while we may not have the all the answers, all the time – they are there and they will make themselves known, in time, if we only get out of our own way and trust.
I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS BUT SOMETHING INSIDE ME DOES
Are we embracing all that comes our way; our mistakes and goof-ups as well as our triumphs? Are we pushing away and hiding from valuable information we need to move forward that is right there in our blunders? Do we cover our faults by blaming them on others or do we own them, use them and try to…
LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES AND NOT DEFEND THEM.
Are we good about keeping our side of the street clean? Do we take charge and apologize when and if we hurt others? Are we emotionally responsible?
I WILL RIGHT MY WRONGS WHEREVER POSSIBLE
Are we self-aware? Do look at our lives, our deeds, our actions our motives on a continual basis, always trying to improve tomorrow what might not have gone well today?
I WILL EXAMINE MY BEHAVIOR ON A DAILY BASIS
Are we grateful? Are we happy with what comes our way or do we complain and want more? In the wise words of Anne LaMott, do we say “Please. Wow. Thank you?” Do we give back? Do we try and make others lives a little better by helping out? Do we find our centers in helping others? Do we…
LIVE OUR LIVES IN LOVE AND SERVICE GRATITUDE AND TRUST
Maybe the phone thought I needed reminding. Maybe it was right.
