WHAT A DAY IN LA
The choices we make about the lives we live determine the kinds of legacies we leave.
~ TAVIS SMILEY
So today was the official start of the Gratitude and Trust Book Tour.
Like I said the other day, for those of you new to this site, the next month or so will be a bit unorthodox for us.
We are on the road and we want to take you with us.
One of the great parts of writing a book is getting to promote it. To go out and be interviewed, read, meet the people. It’s endlessly exhilarating. Some people find it tiresome, but Paul and I are such people people and such hams we just go for it.
I am in LA. Paul lives in Southern California, so he is home and I am in a hotel.
This morning our first booking was to go tape the Tavis Smiley radio show. I don’t know what I expected. Tavis Smiley is known to be a thoughtful and astute man. And he proved to be a great interviewer. We were with him for fifteen minutes and he so got it, great questions, right to the point, no show biz stuff thrown in. Just razor sharp and authentic, loved it.
Aside from the interview the treat was waiting for us in the waiting room.
From there we had to do an hour interview with Wellness Radio out of Santa Barbara. Not sure when any of this will air. But we will let you know.
Now I did not really know much about Adam Carolla. I was to find this puts me in a minority. Adam has the number one podcast in the country. Two hundred and fifty thousand downloads per cast. So after lunch we found ourselves racing to Glendale for what turned out to be an hour long conversation with Adam. Adam riffs. Not sure he reads the book, actually he didn’t he told us that. But he was planning to.
We ran so long with Adam Paul literally told him we had to leave at a certain point. It’s easy and breezy and very laid back. You just sit and talk about whatever. The book comes into the conversation but so do a lot of other things.
We knew we had to be over the hill by five for our LA book party, that was given to us the the vivacious and generous Carol Goldsmith. It was an evening for Carol’s friends, some of my LA friends and Paul and his wife Mariana’s friends. We all gathered in her garden. Diesel the bookstore in Brentwood came and sold books. Everyone seemed to have a great time, I know I did. My only regret is I was so busy talking and signing, I didn’t get to take a photo of Carol.
Thank you Carol and Tavis and everyone who made this a memorable day for us!! Off to bed we are live on KTLA in the am at 9:25.
