CREATION IS THE PLAY OF LIFE UPON ITSELF

When it comes to fear, there are a number of things I observe in my own behavior and the behavior of others. When the forms of our lives disappear we get scared. No form is permanent and at some point in everyone’s life, all forms, no matter how substantial they look or how important they may be, will disappear. The forms of our lives, our relationships, careers, health, wealth, our bodies and stuff we own, even the feelings we’re having right now, will vanish. This means that at some level all forms are under attack by—what some have called—a Divine Imagination.

It is, after all, your imagination that got you to where you are today. Whatever negative or positive experiences you have encountered, someone imagined that happening to someone, and it did: you. Some will ask, “Does that mean the victims of crime, deceit, and violence imagined themselves being victimized?” No, what it means is, “Most people are victims because they did not consciously imagine something different then the possibility of being a victim.” In other words, they were not proactive in seeing themselves as the free and creative presence of a completely successful life. More likely, they hoped and prayed they would never have to experience the bad things of life that they observed others having to experience. They believed that good luck, a benevolent God and a brick-house defense, would see them through, and for some this was their experience—but not for most. Most people are locked in the same mystery that does not know the difference between beneficent and benevolent. Beneficent is the action that produces benefits for someone else. Benevolent is more like a wish or hope that God will look upon you with favor. One serves life, the other tries to get as much as they can.

The higher power I believe in is not a wishing well, but a fountain head that satisfies the thirst we all have for a greater life: the desire to do good. A wishing well is something you throw money into hoping your wish will be granted. A fountain head is a source, a constant flow of good that inspires and transforms all who would drink of its water. What would be your desire: The wishing well or the fountain head?

We must leave our shells of superstitious limitation and become the fourth pig. Little is known about this little pig because most everyone has focused their attention on the third little pig. He built a solid line of defense; the brick-house, the mansion, the bank account, the investments and all the other things that protect us from failure. The fourth pig, however, did none of these things. Instead, this pig befriended what everyone else saw as the enemy and built a coalition and created a partnership that had enough synergy to transform a world of fear into a world of faith. These are the real leaders of the world because they came out of their shells and landscaped their minds in a rich and fertile garden of productive and positive visions. They saw life as a journey of creation and literally lived up to their potential, not their problems.

The human mind dislikes change and struggles to release and imagine a completely positive and proactive idea. It is difficult to dismantle our cultural heritage and the collective opinions the world has heaped upon us so that we might defend ourselves against the imagined enemies of our peace of mind. Many hope they can become like the third little pig and build a brick-house life that will withstand the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune; strong enough to keep the wolves away.

But those who know that Creation is the play of life upon itself know: “What God knows, God creates. What we know, we create.” We have the same disposition and the same power. Whatever we truly believe we are, we become. My philosophy says God believes in the very presence of Love. That as God contemplates Love; all is born and advanced in the same manner. Whatever I know about Love, the Universe has created for me. Whatever I know about fear, the World has created for me.

You and I are not of this world. We are the creation of perfect Love. Our job is to focus on our potential and live up to all that is required for our complete and joyous life. Change is not a bad thing, it’s simply God becoming a grater experience of Love. We are all changing into a brighter life illuminating a greater way of happiness, peace, and forgiveness. As someone said once, “You are the light of the world / But if that life’s under a bushel / It’s love something kind of crucial / You’ve got to stay bright to be the light of the world.” From the musical Godspell music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz
